Neuropsychological Evaluations
Adult and child neuropsychological evaluations are often recommended when symptoms or complaints involving brain functioning are detected. Abilities that are evaluated can include attention, memory, language, intellect, academic achievement, nonverbal skills, social perception, mood, and personality.

Many individuals, for instance, who are suspect of having ADHD or an Autistic Spectrum Disorder or a specific learning disability may get referred for this type of evaluation. A referral may also be made after an individual experiences traumatic brain injury.

Evaluations offer objective testing of abilities in order to help you identify problems and to target any challenges with appropriate care. The results from testing are interpreted, and a diagnosis along with recommendations is provided. We will have an opportunity to sit down and go through the results before a written report is given to you.

Evaluations can assist in a variety of ways. First, tests are sensitive and can identify even mild weaknesses, before problems arise. Also, results can clarify diagnostic impressions and identify target areas for more accurate treatment and academic planning. Moreover, a baseline can be established to measure the effects of a medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment.
