Many people who contact me for individual psychotherapy are struggling with such issues as anxiety, stress, depression, panic, social withdrawal, obsessional thinking, PTSD, burnout, and relationship issues.
My practice is focused on evidence-based cognitive and behavioral treatments. These include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Mindfulness Practice
I have three aims in psychotherapy. One aim is to create a warm and welcoming space that allows for collaboration and feedback during the entire process. Another aim is to help you clarify changes you want to make and help you move towards them. The third aim is to help you learn to cope with painful barriers that may come up as you make changes. I'll introduce you to experiential exercises, behavioral practices, paradoxes, metaphors, and psychoeducational material that promote movement from unworkable strategies to more effective responding.
What are your fees?
I am a provider for Anthem/Blue Cross and Cigna.
If you have another type of insurance with out of network benefits, you may be reimbursed when you see a licensed provider. After payment, I would give you an invoice to submit to your insurance company. If you have a MSA/HSA plan at your work that would also help pay for your expenses. For psychotherapy, the charge for the first 60-minute evaluation session is $200. After that a 45 minute session is $150 and a 60 minute session is $180.
If you have any questions about psychotherapy fees, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s important that people have access to treatment. Given the investment, I’m willing to discuss fees and lengths of sessions that are financially agreeable to us both.
When can we meet?
At this time, I'm meeting through telehealth sessions only. Weekday mornings and afternoons are often available. I have some evening appointments as well. I also meet with clients on weekend afternoons.
How often do we meet?
My recommendation is to start with weekly meetings. I can provide you with a regular time, if you wish. Once you start to make progress, meeting every other week is realistic. We can negotiate the frequency of our meetings if there are factors that affect attending sessions.
How do I get the process started?
I look forward to hearing from you! You can reach me by phone (516.595.3779) or email. Before we set up the appointment, it’s helpful to know a little about the issues you’re dealing with, get acquainted with what kind of help you’re looking for, and answer any questions you might have. Once we negotiate fees/insurance, we can look at availability and set up a time for our first appointment
What can I expect in our first session?
Our first session is 60 minutes and includes filling out standard paper work, like intake and HIPAA/confidentiality forms as well as several behavioral inventories. Those forms are provided to you beforehand so we can save time. I’ll be asking a lot of questions about your struggles and your background. I’ll also review how I think treatment can help you and give you a realistic idea of treatment direction.
How long does therapy take?
It’s difficult to know exactly how many sessions are required to see therapeutic effects. Evidence-based therapies are focused on strengthening skills and are meant to be short term. Some protocols suggest 12 to 15 sessions. I’ll be checking in with you periodically to make sure you agree with the direction we’re going in. A good standard is to commit to six sessions and see if you would like to proceed. It’s important to be realistic…no therapy works for everyone. If my approach doesn’t seem right for you, I can easily refer you to colleagues with different approaches.
